Shauna Sorensen
Dancer, Teacher, Choreographer
Teacher
I have been teaching at various studios in and around New York City since 2005. Throughout my time teaching I have gained extensive experience teaching ages 2.5 to adult in genres such as ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, dance improv techniques, contemporary, and pre ballet. I have taught at both the recreational and competitive levels. Currently I am certified in the Nan Giordano Jazz Dance Certification Program, as well as Sugarfoot training for dancers. I feel most passionate about teaching younger children and instilling a strong technical foundation as well as a respect for the classroom and their fellow dancers.
My classes are challenging and require a lot of strength in both body and mind. I want my students to truly enjoy taking class and no matter what level they are at and learn lessons from class that they can take with them for years to come. I would like to thank my dance mentors growing up, Ellen Copeland and Marie Bolson, for giving me the gift of dance. My life would not be what it is today without your guidance and support.
Currently I am the Artistic Director and Competition Team director of All Star Studios in Forest Hills, NY and teach for Circle of Dance, a company that provides arts education to the public schools of Long Island and Queens. I have also had the honor to be on the faculty of Broadway Dance Center's Children and Teen Program, Group Services at Broadway Dance Center, and various afterschool programs in Queens.
I am available for private, semi private, and master classes as well as competition solo, group, and production choreography. Please contact me at intermediate@Yahoo.com if you are interested in finding out more information on rate and availability.
